Senitila- In the last month of the year in the 1918 the pandemic
was finally over. But there were many deaths. A few months later the death
toll has moved to nine thousands, In New Zealand there is a new Virus
called Covid -19 which stands for Coronavirus it started in december
2019 that is why its called Covid19 cause it started in 2019. It is a big
Virus in New Zealand. There are 16 deaths and 1,112 cases.






NZ’s killed by the Flu :9.000 Over a  4 year period.
NZ’s killed in WW1: 1800  Over a 2 month  period.

Why is the 1918 flu known as Spanish Flu? 
A lot of people died in Spain because of the flu.

Why did some people think the 1918 flu was a return of the plague?
It  had similar looking symptoms - affected the lungs, skin changed colour

What medical knowledge was learnt from the 1918 flu?
the importance of isolation that breathing in zinc sulphate doesn't do anything  
For everyday  Europeans that died of the flu in NZ, __and___ Maori died.
This was because of the flu it made huge deaths because it spreaded fast from
people to people.

Is it true that RMS Niagara brought the flu to NZ? Yes How do you know? 
Because the soldiers had the flu from the war and other times and
when they went around the world they kept giving the flu to other countries
but there were already some cases in NZ before the RMS came.

Why was this virus so deadly? 
It was a mutated strain people didn't know how to fight it/kill it

What limitations did people living in 1918 have during this crisis?
(hint: think about what would have made it hard for them to survive this time,
things they didn’t have then that we have now). What we have now which is tv,
phones, wifi, and stuff is the stuff they did not have 

Why is November 1918 known as ‘black November’ in NZ?
Number of people that died and also when your skin changed colour.

  1.  Not washing your hands
  2.  Not showering and not staying clean
  3.   Not staying home

explain why they do so:
  1.  Washing your hands
  2.  Stay Home
  3.  Showering and staying clean.

Explain what a vaccine is and how it works.

They had used spray inhalers to take out all the germs out of their body.
They were celebrating because the soldiers came back from the war,
children also known as boy scouts delivering food to the sick people and
adults looking after the sick
people.
