School Holdiays During Lock Down

Hello, welcome back to my blog. During my holidays I spent most of the time at my aunt’s house while my parents work. My two weeks off of school were fun. I got to spend lots of time with my favorite little person, Johnpaul. He is my favorite because we have funny and sad moments and we still love each other. Sometimes I miss school but at the same time, I enjoy staying home and doing online classes. This lockdown is killing us because we humans want to be out and about. Surely someday we will go back to level 1 so we can do the thing we love.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Tongan Language Week!

Flag of Tonga | Britannica

Malo e lelei, this week in September we celebrate Tongan Language week in lock - down, the theme for the week is : Fakakoloa 'o Aotearoa 'aki 'ae ako lelei > Enriching Aotearoa with holistic learning.  The theme serves as a conversation starter on the importance of holistic education, diverse forms of learning, and how Aotearoa can benefit from it. When you learn your education doesn't stop at school because you learn everywhere like at home, work and places and you know new things. Something I have learned from my mother was to make Lu ( Taro Leaves ) . I want to sustain my culture by passing down the traditions my parents taught me to my kids in the future because culture is very important. Something I want to teach is to always value your culture because it's in your blood.

 Happy Tongan Language Week !

Color Palette

Color Palette!

Here I had to pick five of my favourite images from my mood board and use shapes and fill in the colours.

Mood Board !

Malo e lelei, here we have a image of different aesthetic images of things I like in heaps of color. Adding different colours are good because it makes it really pop and it's cool. This is called a mood board because it really explains a lot about you for example I added a volleyball meaning I like to play volleyball, also I have added oranges because I like to eat oranges. So basically a mood board is basically a drawing with different aesthetic images of what you adore.

Dawn Raids Apology 2021

The Samoan People are putting a  i’Fonga (Mat) over Jacinda Ardern because

she is asking for forgiveness for what happened in the past. This took place at the

Town Hall in the city of Auckland, two weeks ago. The people who were there were Pacific Islanders,

government,Tongan Princess Siu'ilikutapu and The Prime Minister. This is important  for Pacific Islanders

because in the 1970’s and 1980’s the government used the Police to arrest people in the early mornings,

hence the term dawn raids. This was racist because only Pacific Island over stayers were arrested even

though there were many more European over-stayers. Even though Jacinda Ardern wasn’t the Prime

Minister who ordered this to be done, it is important for her to apologise on behalf of the government.

Why should we protect our culture?

So our culture can thrive
So people know who we are
communicate with others
Others can learn about our culture.

How can we protect our language?

We can Protect our culture by Speaking it , like responding to your parents in your culture. Also your culture is important because its in your blood.

Why should we learn our culture?
So we can communicate with families in Tonga or Samoa  and so our culture won't die like it won't exist.

Another way we can maintain our culture is Samoan parent meetings we have  all the Samoa mums and dads to come to school and communicate in their language. Also they came to help kids like us learn our culture. And to understand how our culture works at School.

Where you can hear your language )

Church, Education,  Aiga an Cultural activities.

I participated in a Sasa ( Dance) to help our house win the Samoan Language week competition.

What do we know about the government?

Today in social Studies we learnt What do you know about New Zealand's government. The Government is very important because they have our prime minister ( Jacinda Ardern)  Provide and look after our country. It's important for them to be apart of the Government because the Ministry's of... help New Zealand.

Survivor Reflection

Today my group in Social studies discussed about how we were going to survive on the boat with only the people in our group. We all Contributed our ideas and disagreed and agreed. After that we all drawed a picture of  boat and a island. What happened in the story was we were on a boat and the boat sinked and ended up at a island.
